Things to do in Denver

Nearby Food and Activities

The Doubletree Hotel is on the NE side of Denver, a short 15 minute drive from downtown. Take the RTD bus that goes down Martin Luther King Blvd in front of the hotel. Large grocery store is about three blocks South of the hotel. Two blocks south are a number of nearby franchise-type restaurants, including Chipotle, Starbucks and Noodles (Noodles, has a very tasty selection for a franchise).

Internet Access

The Hotel has internet access for a daily fee. Panera Bread has free Internet a few blocks North of the hotel.

Nearby Hiking

There is really good hiking in the foothills near Boulder only 1/2 hour from the hotel. Take Hwy 36 to Boulder, getting off at the Table Mesa exit just as you arrive on the South side of town. Then go West, winding all the way up to NCAR a modern (I.M. Pei designed) building in red cement. Park in the lot, and you have lots of hiking. One of the nicest is Fern Canyon, which gives you a pretty, 2 - 3 hour hike. Very steep in parts.

Mountains and Hot Springs (Full day trip)

Long but beautiful day trip if snow has been cleared from Trail Ridge Road. Boulder to Estes Park, over Trail Ridge Road, down to Granby, and stop to soakin the Hot Sulphur Springs. Then returning over Berthoud Pass to Denver.

Ski Arapahoe Basin

Spring Skiing usually runs through mid-June.

Santa Fe, NM (3-4 day trip)

Santa Fe is about 6-7 hours South on I-25. Return more slowly up through Taos and the San Luis Valley.
